The Custom Apparel

TCA approached me to create a logo that would serve as their main identity. The brief emphasized that the logo should evoke a sense of familiarity and trustworthiness. Initially, I was inspired by mid-20th-century logos, a period before planned obsolescence was common and trust was apparent in the designs. I ultimately decided to create a more modern design. I transformed The Custom Apparel into the acronym “TCA” to serve as the logo. Considering that TCA is a one-stop shop for embroidery, screen printing, and DTG, it made sense to include the three primary colors.

Inspired by Massimo Vignelli’s design work on the New York subway system, I aimed to create a logo with a sense of familiarity. This logo needed to be simple and effectively convey TCA’s message. Additionally, I drew inspiration from mid-20th-century logos, which have a certain charm and evoke a feeling of trust that is less common today. This sense of trust is something I wanted people to feel when looking at the TCA logo.

Bringing together the inspirations and emotions conveyed by the logos shown above, we arrive at this point. Now, to be completely honest, there is nothing “wow” about this logo—and that’s precisely the point. As a minimalist by nature, I wanted this logo to be simple, and that’s exactly what it is.
